Based on 1,474 reviewsSumo Sushi & Grill AYCE - UW is widely recognized for its fresh, high-quality ingredients and diverse all-you-can-eat sushi offerings. Customers consistently highlight the freshness of sashimi and the generous portion sizes of specialty rolls, with particular praise for flavorful dishes like Yellowtail Jalapeno and an array of hand rolls. The dining experience is enhanced by a clean and inviting atmosphere, complemented by efficient, phone-based ordering that streamlines service. The restaurant manages a fast-paced environment with a 90-minute time limit, which patrons generally find sufficient to enjoy a wide selection of sushi, ramen, and buffet-style items including fried foods and vegetables. All you can eat sushi in the heart of Seattle? The dinner flat fee is only 29.95 for unlimited food within 90 minutes. Very delicious, fresh fish, high quality ingredients. The only item I didn’t like was eel, which is strange cos I generally love it but here it tasted very fishy. The place gets busy quickly after 6 pm. High demand for sure! The barcode on every table takes you to a webpage where you can add items to your cart, the kitchen receives the request and the waiter brings out the items. Great process it seems but not so fast, in the “orders placed” you will see many more items than you ordered (they just list there everything that table ordered during the day) and so it gets confusing to know what exactly you ordered and whether or not your new order was submitted. The waitress who served us was very nice and wrote down by hand our order a couple times due to the glitch. Despite a few issues, DEFINITELY coming back and RECOMMEND to try it out.
Had great time here with my family, food was delicious especially the sashimi is fresh and sushi very tasty. Love to be back again.
The food here is amazing. I recommend the ninja rolls. Each piece is very big and they give many of them. Atmosphere was very nice and clean. Ramen for the all you can eat is pretty decent too which is both surprising and nice. You order by phone making it efficient and easy.
I had a great experience at Sumo Express Japanese! It’s a Japanese all-you-can-eat spot, and the quality of the food really impressed me. I ordered the Takoyaki, Yellowtail Jalapeno, Beef Sukiyaki, and the Avocado Salad—everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The Yellowtail was especially flavorful with just the right kick from the jalapeno. The service was smooth and the ordering system was super convenient. If you’re looking for a good variety of Japanese dishes in an all-you-can-eat style, I definitely recommend trying Sumo!
We came for the AYCE buffet. Very fast service and good food. I especially enjoyed the salmon and tuna sashimi. The hand rolls were good too. There is also a buffet with fried foods and vegetables. New York strip steak is also recommended. There’s a 90 min time limit but that’s not a problem for us. We were fully satisfied. Plenty of parking on the street. 10/10 would recommend.
Saw this new AYCE place when I was in the neighborhood. Good phone ordering system that lets you put in a good quantity of orders. Everything is freshly made and there is a small buffet area for self serve items and condiments. Hand rolls were very generous and portions are reasonable so this is a great place to try a variety of items for a good price. I was here for lunch, nice chill vibe but I'm assuming it is busy dinner time. Larger menu for dinner too
Amazing and fresh food! The fried items are hot when brought to the table The stuff is helpful and informative. They make sure you have a clean table and enough water in your cup. The place is quite small but very clean, its not too loud.
For the price you pay, you definitely get a lot of food—it's a great value. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you're limited to ordering 15 items every 15 minutes. The food doesn’t come out quickly, so orders can back up and take a while. I ordered one dish early on, but it didn’t arrive until right before I was about to leave. It was frustrating not knowing which orders were processed and which weren’t. Whether you order 15 items or just 5, you still have to wait another 15 minutes before placing your next order. This system feels a bit restrictive and may even encourage food waste, since you might be tempted to order more than you need just in case. My biggest issue was the rice. Nearly every dish had an excessive amount of it. In particular, the sushi rice was soggy and overly wet—sushi rice should be moist, not drenched. It felt like they were trying to fill you up with rice rather than focusing on the actual ingredients. On top of that, the server warned us that uneaten food would result in a charge for food waste, so be careful not to overorder. That said, the lunch all-you-can-eat menu offers a great variety, and the salad bar was a nice touch. The service overall was good.
